Tonight I came home from a nice meal with someone who is both a customer and a friend. I’m in a good mood.
I don’t do social networking at work, I don’t like it when my team do it, so I don’t do it. So one of the first things I do is check in on Facebook to see what’s happening in the world of various friends and family around the world
Anyhoo, my eldest son’s facebook was showing a picture of a mangled mouth, with lost teeth and an update that he was in a hospital. He’s old enough that he might not phone home if he’s fallen off his bike or gotten into a scrap, but it would be unusual and so I called him. He’s at work and has no idea what I’m talking about. Now he’s angry and distracted at work. A new job. Today was his first day.
So to those people that find it funny to “frape” (a hateful term in itself), making friends and family think someone they care about has been hospitalised isn’t funny and if I find out who you are, we are going to have words…
Today, the Daily Mirror have used a photo of Morgana, a photographer and model, without permission. This alone is nothing new; it happens every day.
But it gets worse. Her photo is on the front page, with the title ‘Women Who Kill’, alongside portraits of genuine murderers.
The Mirror have also used her photo (an artistic self portrait) at full size, to illustrate a giant double page spread about a real serial killer, ‘Lady Death’, with the tagline, ‘35 male bodies all in labelled coffins in her wine cellar’. Morgana has quotes splashed over her such as “I Wanted To Be The Last Woman In their Lives” and ‘35 victims’.
They stole the photo from Morgana’s Deviant Art gallery and cropped her copyright and logo off the bottom.
The Mirror’s horrifying disregard for copyright and lazy, cheap journalism knows no bounds. Did they think they would get away with using this photo, without permission or payment, in pretty much the most libellous way possible? How stupid are these people?
Needless to say, Morgana is taking legal action.
A damned disgrace! All bets should now be off with the media. I wonder how they’d like it if the tables were turned?
I hope she takes them to the cleaners over this…
Happy Hallmark day
It is however, meeting someone for the first time after reading their words for years, chatting about all manner of things, drinking a beer or two from small glasses and enjoying their company immensely.
Thanks Christa, the woman behind the words is a genuinely nice person.
